World Water Day has been celebrated on March 22nd every year since it’s induction in 1993. Each year is focused on a different water-related issue, and 2013 has been named the Year of Water Cooperation with efforts dedicated to the management of the world’s water resources.

Here at Stingaree, we hosted a World Water Day Benefit on Friday March 22nd, and we had the pleasure of joining forces with some awesome companies. With the help of Nika Water, SurfAid Foundation, Flex Watches, and Starry Eyed Music, our benefit was a great success. If you weren’t able to make it, that’s too bad, but here’s what you missed!

Guests had the option to make donations at the door as well as on the rooftop, and all proceeds from Nika Water sales were donated to this summer’s poverty alleviation project by Nika & SurfAid. Starry Eyed Music’s R.O.B.O.T. manned the DJ booth, providing beats for our rooftop fashion show by Flex Watches showcasing their 10 watches for 10 charities. All eyes were on their blue watch, which represents their partnership with Nika and their dedication to giving back 10% of this watch’s sales to Nika and their poverty alleviation project.

Overall, this was a great event, and we’re extremely thankful to everyone involved in helping this wonderful cause! Check out some of our favorite shots from the show!

Mark your calendars, party people! Yet another A-list star is making his way to San Diego’s #1 Nightclub. Jermaine Dupri will be rocking the turntables at Stingaree on Friday March 8th for a special event presented by El Cartel Tequila.

Dupri is no stranger to the Hollywood spotlight, and for over two decades he’s been topping the charts as a rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Aside from his impressive solo career, Dupri’s rise to stardom in the music industry includes collaborations with stars like Usher, Lil Wayne, Nelly, Mariah Carey and many more. In 2006, Dupri won the Grammy for Best R&B Song for his work on Mariah Carey’s hit “We Belong Together,” which was also nominated for Best Song of the Year.

Dupri’s work doesn’t just take place in the recording studio. He is also known for his live DJ sets, and his residency at The Playhouse in Hollywood gained him the award for DJ of the Year in the 2013 Nightclub & Bar Awards.

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry child, see heaven’s got a plan for you.” If these lyrics don’t sound familiar, then you may want to turn on the radio and have a listen. This title verse belongs to Swedish House Mafia’s worldwide smash hit, “Don’t You Worry Child,” and the guy you’re singing along with every time this song comes on is Swedish singer-songwriter, John Martin.

Although he’s not a member of the Swedish House Mafia DJ trio, Martin wrote the lyrics for this track, which entered Top 5 in the US and has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. This isn’t his first time working with big-time DJ’s, and if you think his voice sounds familiar, you’re right. Martin also wrote and sang the vocals on SHM’s “Save The World” and Avicii’s “Fade Into Darkness.” Both songs became massive hits and rose to the top of the charts around the globe.

Last year we had the pleasure of having John Martin perform at Stingaree, and he gave one of the best live performances we’ve ever had. We’re so excited for his anticipated return to Stingaree on Friday February 15th to perform “Save The World,” “Don’t You Worry Child,” and “Fade Into Darkness.”

A simple mention of the term Guesthouse Day Club is enough to light up the eyes of San Diego’s most enthusiastic party people. Day club was the weekly party at Guesthouse inside Stingaree that took Sunday Funday to a whole new level of weird last year. Never got a chance to experience it for yourself?
